Freemor's TWTXT Posts

(re: Session) Again with the "disappearing messages". I wish people would give up on this one. Can not be reliably done. You can compile your own client, Then you can modify it to Ignore deletion requests. Also if the data is stored on device for any length of time it can be copied elsewhere before deletion.

* Freemor (2 days ago)
(re: Session) I'm also not seeing loki-service-node source code, just binaries. So is it a "Just trust the server" system?

* Freemor (2 days ago)
(re: Session) "Duress codes" Are a bad idea and in almost all jurisdictions will get you into more trouble then not. (Destruction of evidence, Impeeding an investigation, etc. etc. )

* Freemor (2 days ago)
(re: Session) I do not like the "staking" model they are using for the servers. The Internet should not be "Pay-to-Play". Also it favours well resourced entities (NSA, CES, Etc.) over normal non heavily resources individules.

* Freemor (13 days ago)
@von sounds like a very sweet plan. Hope it goes well.

* Freemor (14 days ago)
@kas Wow! Nice. getting close to that for me too.. (will be in June). How time flies.

* Freemor (18 days ago)
The report PDF is well worth getting. lots of clearly documented stuff in it.

* Freemor (18 days ago)
New Research on the Adtech Industry: https://www.forbrukerradet.no/out-of-control/ (yep, It's as bad as I thought and probably much worse then most suspect.)

* Freemor (20 days ago)
@kas AIBOHPHOBIA very cute! :)

* Freemor (25 days ago)
@kas Yep, seeing the "/.git/HEAD" requests here too.. but fewer as that would run afoul of one of my servers banning rules. But still quite a few in my logs.

* Freemor (38 days ago)
@kas Agreed, browsers offering less info upfront is clearly better. I suspect I was tweaked by the author referring to passive sniffing which seems disingenious as most connections are now https and the real issue is active fingerprinting and tracking.

* Freemor (39 days ago)
@kas And biggest browser is owned by one of the worst of the bunch, Google. Which people seem to forget is an advertising company that happens to do tech, not the other ways round.

* Freemor (39 days ago)
@kas Interesting but I think the author is missing the fact that most fingerprinting is both Active and Intentional. Which means switching to hints will engender more requests so the survielence capitalists can gather as much info as possible.

* Freemor (46 days ago)
@creme Welcome Aboard

* Freemor (53 days ago)
then anyone could follow the links all the way back and it'd be pretty self maintaining.

* Freemor (53 days ago)
@kas I suppose that one could create a linked list of sorts by adding a URL to the previous years twtxt file in the metadata of the current one.

* Freemor (69 days ago)
@sixbitproxywax HTTP has the ability to request byte ranges. a twtxt client could just do a HEAD request. Offset by the size of the file it has cached, and request only the needed range.

* Freemor (69 days ago)
@johanbove seems that Keybase is beset by many such troubles these days.

* Freemor (77 days ago)
Just the usual, Yes I'm still around ping. :)

* Freemor (83 days ago)
When will people get pissed off enough about DRM to tell the Big companies to knock it off? https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/netflix-halts-supporting-samsung-and-other-televisions-from-2010-and-2011.html

* Freemor (83 days ago)
@kas Yikes, sound like that card should be basked up if it can't give you the same hash twice. Maybe throw clonezilla at it and see how it does.

* Freemor (83 days ago)
The term UUID always seemed a bit hyperbolous to me. The universe is very vast. vaster still is we consider that vastness * a universal time scale. :)

* Freemor (85 days ago)
@kas Because Webby!. I think a lot of the people developing these things get quickly lost outside of HTTP/JS.

* Freemor (94 days ago)
@lucidiot :D Re: Satellite dishes.

* Freemor (95 days ago)
@von DD-WRT the router. Definitely worth the effort. I do it to every rouer I can.

* Freemor (98 days ago)
@lucidiot Having heard neither term I'm not sure if you tried shitposting or sithposting. Both are potentially intriguing.

* Freemor (99 days ago)
There were a lot of other issues "lsof" was just the last straw.

* Freemor (99 days ago)
Their GUI client is even worse. Basically I gave up on the whole mess when the CLI (and thus GUI) needed lsof to compile. Requiring lsof is very questionable for a privacy oriented app.

* Freemor (99 days ago)
@johanbove I was doing that with keybase for a while but their client (cli) is a huge bloated POS (I was building from source and watching in horror as it pulled parts from aall over) T.

* Freemor (102 days ago)
as an exapmle I've had an X-PGP-Key: header in my e-mails forever. I have a copy of public my key on my webserver, and on the public keyservers.

* Freemor (102 days ago)
@kas Interesting stuff. I do love reading RFC's. But this one feels like a solution without a problem. I have no problem getting my key to people. And newer options like autoucrypt headers make it even easier.

* Freemor (104 days ago)
@kas Yep, sure is.. But still works fine for me. And at the end of the day isn't that what it's all about?

* Freemor (104 days ago)
@lucidiot Hope you and everyone else there is OK.

* Freemor (104 days ago)
@kas http://blaze.blackened.cz/ Because it can be a little hard to find sometimes.

* Freemor (104 days ago)
@kas Nice, the world can not have enough static site generators. I have been using one for years (blazeBlogger)

* Freemor (105 days ago)
I still call BS on it. and so does ublock Origin which blocks the GIF from being pulled so Clearly I'm not the only one leary of it.

* Freemor (105 days ago)
digging deeper with developer tools show this header coming with the GIF: https://help.duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/privacy/atb/

* Freemor (105 days ago)
Hmmm.. I should check if a cookie comes with that GIF

* Freemor (105 days ago)
in searching around I have seen them say that things under /t/ are for tracking engagement. But that is BS since they just served me the page with the beacon on it.

* Freemor (105 days ago)
if you wget either of those you'll have a 1x1 pixel GIF

* Freemor (105 days ago)
On ddg.gg/html same proceedure gives <img src="/t/sl_h"/>

* Freemor (105 days ago)
@kas got to ddg.gg/lite , Do A search , View source , nav. to bottom of page , See <img src="/t/sl_l"/>

* Freemor (105 days ago)
Still no reply from DockDuckGo Re: the 1x1 web beacon. Not good DDG folks this is a valid question.

* Freemor (106 days ago)
The things you notice when using a text only browser.

* Freemor (106 days ago)
DuckDuckGo has a 1x1 pixel GIF (classic web beacon) on the bottom of all my search results. Looks like a tracking attempt to me. E-mailed them to ask why.

* Freemor (106 days ago)
@kas nice thing about twtxt is you can just go edit the file and add the stars :) (I know you know this but for me editability is one of twtxts killer features)

* Freemor (106 days ago)
@johanbove Lynx is nice and I always have it install but w3m is my new fav. Tabs are a wonderful thing

* Freemor (108 days ago)
finally groked tinc. Now my mind is realing with possibilities.

* Freemor (113 days ago)
@johanbove Great, so people traded MS crap for Facebook crap. Once again completely ignoring the Secure, Standards based, interoperable, Non-corporate alternatives. <sigh>

* Freemor (123 days ago)
@von No just hoping to pry up the corners a bit and peek underneath.

* Freemor (125 days ago)
@adiabetic Congrats! But probably no award long uptime isn't the badge of honour it once was. It is now often seen as a negative.

* Freemor (125 days ago)
@von If it is definitely let me know. Could be the quantum frame dragging stuff I'm doing is mussing with the S/T continuum.

* Freemor (126 days ago)
@adiabetic Ah, misssed the Matrix reference. Though maybe you were referring to some specific type of Malware or botnet samples.

* Freemor (127 days ago)
@adiabetic not sure I follow, What do you mean by "Pills"

* Freemor (129 days ago)
Some of the scripts in my web logs are sad: POST foo.bar, receive 403, Try to GET foo.bar... <sigh>

* Freemor (129 days ago)
@kas "Writing is Thinking" Interesting thought I'm gonna have to ponder how that idea might apply to CLI vs GUI

* Freemor (133 days ago)
Well thats a new useragent in my webservers logs: "Morfeus Fucking Scanner"

* Freemor (136 days ago)
Cool catch by amature astronomer: https://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=156737

* Freemor (136 days ago)
@lucidiot The void is alive with myriad creatures both mystical and mundane.

* Freemor (137 days ago)
@mdosch New MacOS IIUC

* Freemor (137 days ago)
@von crowdsourced click fraud? re: cfc.io

* Freemor (139 days ago)
@von Yes it has always been a struggle to get people other the FLOSS heads to use XMPP. Sad really since it had OTR E2E before other IMs ever even began thinking about E2E

* Freemor (141 days ago)
Without the first variant resulting in several one word tweets

* Freemor (141 days ago)
New tweet script lets me tweet via tweet <blah blah blah> or just tweet followed by typing and ctrl-d to end.. nice

* Freemor (141 days ago)
@mdosch oops! yep thats a typo... fixed. Thanks

* Freemor (141 days ago)
Man, the jabber.org XMPP server needs some love. very few XEP features, Spammy, And today S2S issues. :/

* Freemor (143 days ago)
Anyone looking to reach me Via XMPP. I'm at freemor@jabber.calyxinstitute.org from now on.

* Freemor (146 days ago)
Just pulled the updates.. I'll see how it goes.. Also added add_metadata=1 to my config.

* Freemor (150 days ago)
@mdom re: morepub, looks like nice work. I'm always looking for stuff to read e-pubs in the VT.

* Freemor (152 days ago)
@svf Welcome to #twtxt

* Freemor (157 days ago)
@mdosch yeah, I noticed.. But the Function instead of an alias is still a good hack and one I'll remember. I'll probably just make the 2 line script :)

* Freemor (157 days ago)
@lucidiot Ah! a function instead of an alias. Very clever. I can see this leading to a bunch of new functions in my .bashrc or .profile

* Freemor (157 days ago)
What I'd like is for it to work correctly if I : tweet <a multi word tweet here> . But forget to quote the words of the tweet. Right now if I forget the quotes it sends each word as a seperate tweet instead of gobbling the entire $2-$N as the tweet.

* Freemor (157 days ago)
@mdosh I have a bash alias tweet='txtnish tweet'. If I just say tweet I get to edit the tweet in vim...

* Freemor (158 days ago)
Please ignore just tweaking my "Tweet" alias.

* Freemor (158 days ago)
@mox I hope you tried Terminus.. I couldn't live without it.. Well I probably could. But I'd be sad.

* Freemor (159 days ago)
@kas So somewhat similar to postfix then.. Well I managed that ok. Maybe I'll giv it another look. Thanks

* Freemor (159 days ago)
Works like a charm!

* Freemor (159 days ago)
Testing updated post_tweet_hook

* Freemor (159 days ago)
@kas How much of a hastle was setting up INN. I'm no stranger to server set-ups but the few times I've pondered it it seemed a bit complicated (tho that would be year and years ago)?

* Freemor (159 days ago)
@kas I fire up tin to read from nntp.aioe.org from time to time.. but definitely not like the early days. I had soo many good conversation on NNTP back in the day. Hopefully it'll find a niche like gopher seems to have.

* Freemor (159 days ago)
@kas I use NNTP out of naustalgia from time to time but it is hard to find really good free NNTP servers like back when NNTP was a thing and before it was poluted by binaries.

* Freemor (173 days ago)
From the URIs being requested it looks like someone is going after Magento instances

* Freemor (173 days ago)
Wow! seeing a crap ton of scanning for some new Vuln. from very distributed IPs looks like someone is building thenselves a botnet.

* Freemor (178 days ago)
Liked the term so much I wrote a blog entry for it: http://freemor.ca/2019/08/21-the-sheeplenet

* Freemor (178 days ago)
It will also allow me to say things like "No, No, I'm all over the Internet. I just don't go on the Sheeplenet."

* Freemor (178 days ago)
Why the new term? Because today I relaized that my aversion to the Sheeplenet means that I am gonna be damn near impossible to Phish.

* Freemor (178 days ago)
Sheeplenet: Refers to Google, FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Amazon, etc. Basically the things that 90+% of the population are thinking of when they say Internet.

* Freemor (179 days ago)
Was wondering when I switched to my flip phone.. So I did: grep -i flip twtxt.txt Just another way #twtxt wins over twitter/FB/Etc.

* Freemor (180 days ago)
@gil Yep it works :) Welcome aboard

* Freemor (203 days ago)
@mdosch I was responding to a comment by @cmaughan

* Freemor (203 days ago)
@adiabetic That's when you point it out on both of their "Talk" pages and then watch then duke it out.

* Freemor (203 days ago)
Mentions expanding to <Name URL> is a feature as it gives you all the info needed to follow a person that somone else mentions.

* Freemor (207 days ago)
Wow big influx of new people to #twtxt. Greetings and Welcome to all!

* Freemor (216 days ago)
Which is why I built myself a small SBC based MID (Mobile Internet Device) years ago. All the power of linux at my fingertips. None of the crap. And Way cheaper then a smartphone.

* Freemor (216 days ago)
@tx LOL great analogy.. But the "tech" of smartphones is available in a much more libre, much less expensive form factor, namely SBCs

* Freemor (216 days ago)
Even more validation of my smartphone free, Text centric way of being: http://nautil.us/issue/52/the-hive/modern-media-is-a-dos-attack-on-your-free-will

* Freemor (217 days ago)
@gbmor then you'll really love the insights from this article. https://arstechnica.com/?p=1539027

* Freemor (219 days ago)
People that wonder why I use mostly w3m/links for browsing shoud read "My browser, the spy: How extensions slurped up browsing histories from 4M users" https://arstechnica.com/?p=1531629

* Freemor (223 days ago)
@mdosch It should be noted that IRC is federated (servers talk to servers) just not across "IRC Networks". And XMPP does sometimes require bouncers (just server side) to deal with spambots and asshats that will exploit your Proxy65 instance as an open Proxy.

* Freemor (225 days ago)
@mdosch I'm a big fan of XMPP too. Ran my own server for years. Guess I just see XMPP and IRC as two different things. XMPP -> Hanging with friends, IRC -> local pub/comminuty center/coffee shop

* Freemor (229 days ago)
Yep, long term plan is to monetize Bittorrnet protocol and turn in into just another CDN for the big media folks. Hope if flops hard.

* Freemor (229 days ago)
Uck. looks like my other concern around "Bittorrent Speed" may be well founded.. Straight from the Bittorrent site: "BitTorrent (BTT) allows content creators to connect with their audience, earn and spend digital currency without a middleman."

* Freemor (229 days ago)
@mdom thanks for #termpub

* Freemor (229 days ago)
Bittorrent Speed: Bittorrent software with a UUID built in. MPAA/ACE/RIAA will love this. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Torrentfreak/~3/25L5wTpm0lE/

* Freemor (230 days ago)
@mdosch WeeChat lets me use IRC mobile. Have an instance on my home server running 24/7 that I can connect to with either SSH or a weechat mobile client. (in my case mostly SSH) But the mobile client is nice. I just no longer own a tracking device .... errrr... smartphone

* Freemor (233 days ago)
LOL... Logs are fun. Someone muffed their UserAgent: "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) \t\t\tChrome/55.0.2883.95 Safari/537.36"

* Freemor (233 days ago)
@tx Thanks, Amazon was the last to go. Being fairly rural it is hard to find a lot of stuff locally. But they are just too dispicable a company for me to continue to use.

* Freemor (236 days ago)
SuperBowlers coming in with increasing dbs perhaps it'll be a Skip kind of day today as well.

* Freemor (237 days ago)
The skip was insane today. Nice QSO with 370 in Ottawa, Ontario. Thats ~ 680km as the crow flies.

* Freemor (239 days ago)
Edit file to correct is one of #twtxt's best features :)

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear got your rough QHT from your Callsign. That'd be an amazing QSL if we could work it. We've got the whole contenent between us.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear 11m is license free.. You can probably pick up a nice CB rig for not too much. Throw up a half wave dipole. And then grumble about the fact that it's the solar minimum. :D

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear No MUC that I know of but there is the #twtxt irc channel on Freenode.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear I'll try to remember to announce when the skip is up and I'm TXing. I last studied for mt Ham license way back where there was only the one and CW was a requirement. I was too young so school, life, and other things got in the way.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
That may change in the future if I decide to join one of the 11m DXing groups like 9-TC. I've heard some of the 9-TC crew out there but haven't managed to QSL any of them yet.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear if you have an 11 meter capable rig. I'm usually on 27.3850 LSB when the skip is good as "350 Newbrunswick Canada"

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@nonlinear Not a Ham (yet), just gettng back into 11meter CB stuff (AM/SSB) right now. QRP DXing is loads of fun. On the Ham side CW would probably interest me most.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
Greets @nonlinear! My, my, all these new people It's good to see more people coming in.

* Freemor (240 days ago)
@mushmouth Not sure what you meant by "not showing my username correctly". Since your nick shouldn't be in your twtxt.txt file. Where is it not showing correctly? what do you mean by correctly?

* Freemor (240 days ago)
Greetings @deepend

* Freemor (241 days ago)
@mushmouth Your twtxt.txt file should have <timestamp> <comment> lines in it and perhaps some other metedata in comments at the top

* Freemor (243 days ago)
@adiabetic What is an "Elephant modifier" and why should I block it? :D

* Freemor (244 days ago)
@robbinaer I know the feeling I've got 3 SBCs in use and 2 waiting to be made into something. The RPi 4 is interesting. Even if it doesn't run a libre stack.

* Freemor (249 days ago)
Added rule to my log watcher. Exim worm attempts now get IP banned. Just don't need the noise in my logs, or the wasted bandwidth.

* Freemor (249 days ago)
Ah, First attempts to exploit the exim flaw in my logs. That didn't take long. Too bad for them I'm not vulnerable.

* Freemor (251 days ago)
Amazon account canceled! \o/ I am now Completely GAFAM free. Feels good.

* Freemor (259 days ago)
@lahvak interesting article thanks for posting it,

* Freemor (263 days ago)
Excellent DX tonight. Hot Springs, Arkansas. Thats 2500KM \o/

* Freemor (264 days ago)
Antenna (dipole) up to the desired height... And made my first Dx contact 1000 KM \o/ not bad for a 4 watt rig. Channel 38 LSB was hopping today.

* Freemor (265 days ago)
WWDC live blogged on #twtxt?! Go @adiabetic

* Freemor (270 days ago)
@gbmor #getwtxt looks pretty sweet I'll have to play around with the live instance when I gat a chance

* Freemor (270 days ago)
Welcome to Twtxt @gbmor

* Freemor (272 days ago)
Mostly for bookmarking purposes, but cool none the less: http://kobol.io/helios4/

* Freemor (275 days ago)
Just learned the finer points of w3m's tabs function. Between that and CTRL-Z the number of VTs I need to have on the go is steadily dropping.

* Freemor (277 days ago)
@kas , Cool thanks for sharing Shizaru

* Freemor (281 days ago)
@adiabetic It might be that wget is honouring robots.txt (which is its default). but hat can be changed.

* Freemor (283 days ago)
@mk Never saw what needed fixing :)

* Freemor (284 days ago)
@von I find posing here goes in cycles depending on whats going on in my life. Although for me this is my 1 social media thing.

* Freemor (285 days ago)
or maybe: grep twtxt.txt /var/log/lighttpd/access.log | cut -d\" -f6 | sort | uniq

* Freemor (285 days ago)
Something like: grep twtxt.txt /var/log/lighttpd/access.log | awk '{ print $(NF-1)" "$NF }' | sort | uniq Would give you a quick and dirty look.

* Freemor (285 days ago)
@mr_woggle twtxt really doesn't support that. But You could check server logs to get some idea. Some clients Include the requesters twtxt URI in the UserAgent String

* Freemor (286 days ago)
Good skip tonight. Even before gray-line. Lots of LSB action on Chan. 38.

* Freemor (286 days ago)
lots more too: curl https://wttr.in/:help

* Freemor (286 days ago)
Probably been posted here days gone by but: https://wttr.in Cool for CLI junkies because: curl https://wttr.in/~<supported city> gives ascii art 3 day weather for <supported city>

* Freemor (286 days ago)
@mk Re: Grey-line.. Nice article here on "Working the grey-line": http://www.qsl.net/w2vtm/grayline

* Freemor (286 days ago)
@mk The "incel" comminity is a terrible thing to get sucked in to, as demonstrated by the second paragraph on: https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Incel

* Freemor (290 days ago)
Looks like sporadic-e skip today! All channels busy, LSB on channel 38 full of DX'ers Man, I really need to get my dipole up to it's proper height.

* Freemor (293 days ago)
SunSpot AR2740 is coming around for a second go and still very active. Radio will be interesting for the next little while.

* Freemor (297 days ago)
Yup, actually happened

* Freemor (297 days ago)
You know that your living fairly rural when your wife comes back from her afternoon walk and says, "I saw a moose!"

@mk Most CB radios don't show freq. but 23 or 40 designated channels. https://www.hamradio.me/charts/cb-radio-frequencies.html My mobile (Midland 85-722) has the ability to show either but even in freq. mode will only step channel to channel (as per the regulations)

* Freemor (305 days ago)
Sadly I can't try talking back because they hang out on channel 9. Reserved for emerg. here

* Freemor (305 days ago)
Caught some nice "Grey-line" skip from Peurto Rico this time. CB is fun.

* Freemor (305 days ago)
@kas I can not connect to the URL you mention either.

* Freemor (305 days ago)
@kas My following file has the URI as https://twtxt.rosaelefanten.org/ but that 404s

* Freemor (307 days ago)
@lahvak Nice article thanks for posting it.

* Freemor (309 days ago)
@tux0r It (ksh2020) is opensource. Fork it from before EBCDIC was taken out. them merge upstream changes you like. Build. Problem solved

* Freemor (310 days ago)
@mk I'm in the same boat ShortWave wise. All I currently have is one of those handcranked portable emergency am/fm/sw radios. But That can change. :)

* Freemor (310 days ago)
@mk the R-1000 looks nice. I'd miss having the BFO tho. You can get a retractable clip-on (clips on to the whip on your handheld) for pretty cheap. That way you can put it up while listening and then take it down again.

* Freemor (311 days ago)
Probably Cuba or Dominican Republic

* Freemor (311 days ago)
Just caught some very cool greyline skip. Not sure were from but very spanish speaking and different rules because they were on channel 9 (which here is reserved for emergencies).

* Freemor (311 days ago)
@mk Plus I'd want a unit with a BFO to listen to side band.

* Freemor (311 days ago)
@mk ShortWave or something else. My CB (11Meter) playings have me pineing for some SWL action but would have to convince wife to let me put up yet another antenna.

* Freemor (311 days ago)
@mk You might also find http://spacew.com/www/realtime.php useful

* Freemor (311 days ago)
@mk Oh, Glad it was useful to more people then myself. I'm looking to chase skip on the 11m band. How is it useful to you?

* Freemor (312 days ago)
More then you probably ever wanted to know about HF propagation: http://www.sws.bom.gov.au/Educational/5/2/2 (Mostly bookmarking for myself)

* Freemor (325 days ago)
@kas Sounds like it'll be loads of fun. Malls, sports bars, Etc Etc, You could really drive people batty at an Off track betting place.. lol (I'd exit the premisis quickly on that last one)

* Freemor (325 days ago)
RE: TV-B-Gone Cute... Have Fun.. Olny thing missing is a way to make it do a fake incoming message alert sound so it looks more convincing when you pull it out of your pocket.

* Freemor (326 days ago)
@kas Very cool re: wiPhone.. I'll have to check that out more when I have a bit of time,

* Freemor (326 days ago)
@kas Re: liberland. Blank page for me. Guess people with text base browsers aren't invited. (Even viewing the source doesn't help. :(

* Freemor (328 days ago)
@adiabetic Re: IE - \o/ glad to see the back of it.. Flash Next (2020). Then We just need to find a way to kill JS.

just Plain Evil. Don't trust OfficeDepot/Max. ever. https://arstechnica.com/?p=1482591

* Freemor (332 days ago)
@adiabetic good catch, That'd be a bug you should submit a BR or a patch/PR to fix that. :)

* Freemor (332 days ago)
@mk did you want us to chenge just the nick or the URI as well

* Freemor (333 days ago)
just read about Googles plans for "AMP". Great going Google, this is a spammers wet dream come true. Let the phishing and infections commence

@von Thanks re: line. I took a look and I'm not seeing any wierdness at least not with vim.

* Freemor (334 days ago)
@von What is the last post #twtxt sees.. must be that line or the next that causes the issue.

* Freemor (334 days ago)
@von Hmmm.. that must be a bug in #twtxt. Question is what in my feed is driving it batty.

* Freemor (336 days ago)
@von and looking in older logs I'm seeing successful pulls going all the way back to the 17th

* Freemor (336 days ago)
@von I'm seeing a slew of succeccful twtxt pulls from you today... Is the problem fixed?

* Freemor (338 days ago)
@von very strange. what error are you getting when you try to fetch

* Freemor (339 days ago)
@kas Thanks for the heads up. Fixed, bad regex on a rule.

* Freemor (342 days ago)
Last bit for CB base station ordered.. Soon I'll be 10-8, 10-10, on the side.

* Freemor (348 days ago)
@tux0r Yeah, My XMPP server was retired last year due to too little use to make the up keep seem worthwhile. Replaced by Tox.

* Freemor (352 days ago)
Getting close to having my CB Base and Mobile all ready to go. Soon there be some retro AM/LSB/USB fun.

* Freemor (363 days ago)
There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those that don't

* Freemor (370 days ago)
@von That sucks! sorry to hear that happened. You'll just have to wire a 200,000V voltage ladder to the case of the next one. (not really but it would be fun if it weren't illegal)

Just learned about: https://www.antiprism.ca - Looks like a potentially interesting Project.

* Freemor (388 days ago)
@von re:nexxo All I get in my text based browser is a bunch promotional buzz word speak. Tells me nothing I need to know (how it works? privacy policy? E2E?). The poor design of the site and the lack of clear meaningful documentation are all red flags for me.

* Freemor (389 days ago)
Got i2p-bote running. \o/ another privacy win!

* Freemor (391 days ago)
and this is why humans and the enviroment are doomed: https://arstechnica.com/?p=1447175

* Freemor (394 days ago)
@kas Re: NGI Great idea but that sites makes my brain hurt with all the promotional speak and the total lack of whitepaper/RFC/Etc. type documentation. I'll keep an eye on it tho.

* Freemor (395 days ago)
@von I feel ya re: "Need to finish that...", I have a "Why CLI" blog entry thats been hanging in the wings for far too long.

* Freemor (398 days ago)
@bt_tenk Welcome to #Twtxt

* Freemor (403 days ago)
@von RE: crawl SS. Keep at it. It is a challenging but rather rewarding game.

* Freemor (404 days ago)
@metamurks Thanks for mentioning #Gnubee hadn't heard of them before.

* Freemor (407 days ago)
Hmmm... looking at my logs it looks like the current spam storm is designed to bypass standard greylisting techniques. Luckily I don't use those. But stll, It's gonna be no fun for those that are.

* Freemor (410 days ago)
@von My point was more that if they were to freak out about sniffing the they are doing their OpSec wrong. Sniffing is trivial (very low bar). Passive sniffing is invisible (no way to detect). A networks sensitive data MUST be secure in the face of sniffing.

* Freemor (410 days ago)
@von 'Not connected to anything' is one of the sweetest ways to packet sniff. At least if you have a proper WiFi chipset that still supports monitor mode.

* Freemor (411 days ago)
@von Just edit the UI and SSID to 'Kitten Box'. No-one ever worries about a kitten box.

* Freemor (411 days ago)
Even active packet sniffing (ARP poisoning/etc) is pretty dead easy too. But that SHOULD light the machine doing it up like a christmas tree down in the IT department.

* Freemor (411 days ago)
@von I hope it doesn't cause you any grief. Because, seriously, any Linux maching running tcpdump is a packet sniffer. Passive packet sniffing is really trivial.

* Freemor (416 days ago)
@von congrats on the new domain.

* Freemor (419 days ago)
@metamurks Oh What have they done to Solderng irons.. It boesn't need to be that complex :/ A SPST and a potentiometer are about as fancy as it needs to get.

* Freemor (422 days ago)
@kas I fell in love with ssh tunnels years ago. Who needs a VPN when you got SSH.

* Freemor (424 days ago)
welcome to #twtxt @dryusdan

* Freemor (426 days ago)
@metamurks ...and you too.. and everyone else. May 2019 be a fantastic year for all twtxt'ers

* Freemor (433 days ago)
After becoming increasingly distrustful of keybase (way, way too many remote libs pulled during build. way to huge for what it does, way too resource hungry) Finding Google Firebase analytics (spyware) in the android client was the last straw. My keybase account is going bye-bye!

* Freemor (433 days ago)
@von first party yea! Second part hopefully Yea! as well.

* Freemor (437 days ago)
@von re: intercepted API request... Hacking is always fun. :)

* Freemor (439 days ago)
Wow! spam attempts are way, way up in the last 24H. Christmas push I guess.

* Freemor (440 days ago)
I definitely consider Hawkpost as a hidden gem.

* Freemor (440 days ago)
@von Glad you found it. For those of us that like Encrypted mail it removes the complaint of others that setting up encryption at their end is too hard.

@von Naaaw, it's nice to see a bit more action here on #twtxt

* Freemor (451 days ago)
@von Ah... mastodon bot. I was thinking something more generic bot wise :)

* Freemor (451 days ago)
@von Nice article on twtxt. :) What was your bot up to that warrented a complaint? Are you aware of txtnish and other twtxt clients?

* Freemor (451 days ago)
Always fun teasing apart a virus that someone tried to spam me with. Sometimes interesting, often meh. But almost always fairly low detection rates on Virustotal.

@von Fun execrise, thanks

* Freemor (463 days ago)
Sorry about the mess.. now fixed

* Freemor (463 days ago)
@metamurks I too am licenseless. Know What you mean about feeling like an outcast at times. Why "wont to the license in the future"?

* Freemor (464 days ago)
... phone # as identifier is a horrible idea from both a privacy and security standpoint. Especially with SIM Swapping becoming a major issue for SMS 2FA.

* Freemor (464 days ago)
... It would also slow down any malicious hacker that got ahold of the database. I'll avoid that program like the plague just because it uses phone #s. Same reason I've never played with #KonTalk.

* Freemor (464 days ago)
@kas Advantage of hashing the phone # (especially with something strong like PBKDF2) Would be that people feel more comfortable that this wasn't just a way to collect a ton of phone #s

* Freemor (470 days ago)
@reednj Yes, there is a core group of dedicated #twtxt'ers

* Freemor (470 days ago)
@kas Thanks for the heads up on those Ted talks.. Look interesting, will definitely have to give them a gander.

* Freemor (479 days ago)
@skingrapher can someone cross compile them for you on a newer machine and ship you the binaries

* Freemor (482 days ago)
@skingrapher you might also like BlazeBlogger: http://blaze.blackened.cz/

* Freemor (495 days ago)
@tx I care... but nodoby listens. It's not just people, I can't tell you how many website force me to pull tons of JS just to look at a text article.

* Freemor (496 days ago)
My concern was more for "average users" (what ever that is) Who would have a cam and be unaware that From: is meaningless

* Freemor (496 days ago)
@mdosch Yep, I'm in the same boat. Laptop doesn't even have a webcam, I'm not on any social media accounts (that they clain to hav stolem contacts from) etc.

* Freemor (498 days ago)
Sextortion spammers are taking a new tact. Remind your friends and aquaintances that the From: header is entirely spoofable and proves nothing.

* Freemor (507 days ago)
So I remember it: bsdtar -xf some.pkg.tar.xz -C / --ignore='.*' - To manually install a Parabola/Archlinux package.

* Freemor (509 days ago)
@tux0r What? ew! No. vi is the standard text editor. :)

* Freemor (516 days ago)
I have my ssh server available on several ports just for such situations

* Freemor (517 days ago)
@kas Did more digging after your response Seems to have something to do with the cipher suite. If I go bare bones FF based browser it works. anything with hardened prefs seems to fail.

* Freemor (517 days ago)
Shocker! <scarcasm> The gig economy is bad for people and society: https://arstechnica.com/?p=1381001

* Freemor (517 days ago)
Actually make that a screen of JS with a thin HTML wrapper. Sorry, if they can't even make a site that drops to plain HTML (even if just to say turn on JS) I am not trusting their security creds.
